It all started in a 34-square-meter space—now Alf Pettersson AB is celebrating its 25th anniversary
On September 18, Alf Pettersson AB will celebrate its 25th anniversary. What began as a small company focused on custom solutions has, over the course of a quarter-century, grown into a well-established development and manufacturing company with over 50 employees, its own production facilities, and customers throughout much of Europe.
When Alf Pettersson founded the company in 2001, his goal was actually quite simple: to build something of his own and have the opportunity to turn ideas into practical solutions without having to go through lengthy decision-making processes.
The early years were marked by custom manufacturing, consulting assignments, and tailored solutions for the transportation industry. The company grew rapidly, and just a few years after its founding, revenue had already surpassed four million kronor.
A major change came in 2008 when Alf Pettersson AB began its own production. With a press brake and its own welding equipment, manufacturing began in a 34-square-meter facility. The following year, the company moved from Vårgårda to Alingsås, and the business continued to grow.
“We’ve always had high standards, maintained good order, and kept the customer at the center of everything we do,” says Alf Pettersson.
From Custom Solutions to In-House Products
Over the years, the company has gradually shifted from primarily focusing on custom manufacturing and consulting projects to developing a broad range of in-house products. Brackets, toolboxes, tanks, Catwalk, Cabinet Behind Cab , and other body components have become an important part of the company’s operations.
Several of the products originated from specific problems faced by customers. One example is the Rough tank, which was developed after existing solutions proved inadequate under demanding conditions.
“Starting with a serious customer problem, we developed an entirely new tank and mounting system that is in a class of its own in terms of durability and functionality,” says Alf.
A particularly important recognition came when the company’s toolboxes and bracket became standard equipment on factory-built trucks.
“It was an amazing feeling. It confirmed that our long-term focus on quality, functionality, and customer value was paying off. At that moment, it really felt like we had taken a big step forward,” says Jan-Krister Johansson, who joined the company in 2005 and has been CEO and co-owner since 2010.
25 Years of Development and a Look Ahead
Today, the business encompasses approximately 5,000 square meters of office, warehouse, and production space. Revenue has surpassed 100 million kronor, and the company has grown to over 50 employees.
At the same time, much remains the same as it was at the start.
Curiosity, creativity, and the drive to find better solutions remain central to the business. With its own design, production, and warehouse in Alingsås, Alf Pettersson AB can take responsibility for the entire chain—from concept to finished solution.
The anniversary celebration on September 18 will therefore not only be a look back at 25 years; it will also mark the start of the next chapter.
For Alf Pettersson AB, the core philosophy remains the same as it was in 2001: to combine creativity with technical expertise and develop well-thought-out solutions that work in the real world.
25 years of ideas, customer focus, and optimism for the future—and the journey continues.
